Esperanza!

This young lady can “sang”. And play violin and bass.

She’s performed for President Obama three times: twice at the White House and once during his Noble Prize ceremony in Norway.

If you haven’t heard, ESPERANZA SPALDING is the child prodigy from Portland who at:

Age 4: Saw cellist Yo Yo Ma on Mister Roger’s Neighborhood and decided right then and there that she wanted to be a musician.

Age 5: Taught herself how to play the violin and joined the Chamber Music Society of Oregon.

Age 15: Selected Concert Master for Chamber Music Society and began playing bass violin.

Age 20: Studied and taught at Berklee College of Music in Boston making her the youngest faculty member in the history of the college.

Age 23: Released Esperanza the best-selling album by a new artist in 2008.

Age 26: Released Chamber Music Society to rave reviews.

Chamber Music Society is a superior album and if you’re wondering, my favorite songs are “Inútil Paisagem”, “Winter Sun”, “Chacarera” and “Good and Evil”.
