Dual Artist: Willy Rizzo

Lauren Santo Domingo's New York City Apartment

It’s Friday, and I thought that I would answer a very popular reader request about the designer of Lauren Santo Domingo’s and Aerin Lauder’s cocktail table. The guilty party is, in fact, the legendary 1960s Hollywood and fashion photographer, and 1970s modern furniture designer, Willy Rizzo. Mr. Rizzo has said that his intention in designing furniture was always to create something new for a traditional setting, so his shiny laminate cocktail tables with an inset brass or stainless steel drinking basin are the perfect example of Willy’s sense of neo-classical style and practical application. Even Ms. Santo Domingo said in her feature on Vogue.com that she often places plants (above) or a bar set-up inside her basin, just as Ms. Lauder did below. I love the clean, simple lines of the cocktail table and the brass accents. If you are interested, Willy Rizzo’s furniture, which is highly collectible right now, is available on 1stdibs.com.

Love the tables and your informative post. Both these ladies have fabulous style! Just adore Lauder’s Hamptons Home – the photo you featured exemplifying it perfectly – and how perfect is the table. I prefer it as a bar set up but of course it offers so many opportunities for a great vignette!
