In Memoriam: Elizabeth Taylor

It seems whenever I am working with laser focus and not paying much attention to what is going on in the media, major news breaks. When I emerged from my cocoon yesterday, I was saddened by news that legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor had died.

As you know, I try to write about the people, places or things that I have some connection too, so I started thinking about how I first discovered Elizabeth, and I’m almost certain it was because of Michael Jackson and his friendship with her.

Like so many of you, I admired Elizabeth’s work in movies like National Velvet, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and what I have concluded was my favorite, Butterfield 8, but most of all, I admired her strength and fearlessness in addressing the AIDS epidemic when it was not always politically correct to do so.

It bears repeating, they just don’t make them like Elizabeth in Hollywood anymore.

Rest in peace, Dame Elizabeth. You will be missed.
