Mario Testino: Todo o Nada

Claudia Schiffer for Vogue Germany

It seems every exhibit I want to see this summer is taking place in Europe. I was reading last night about MARIO TESTINO’S new exhibition at the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza in Madrid and immediately wanted to book a flight to Spain.

Mario is one of the world’s foremost fashion photographers and his new retrospective discovered through the two opposing directions of his work is about “contemplating the process and implications involved in the act of removing one’s clothes and becoming naked.”

How’s that for enticing deep thought and contemplation?

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Mario’s photographs is that the women always appear strong and confident. This is no mistake because Mario said recently, “I like strong, independent women who, despite their strength, never lose their femininity and women who don’t use their beauty as a tool. Women with personality who can reflect their own decisions and ours.”

Since most of us will not have a chance to view the Todo o Nada exhibition in person, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite Mario images here, so that you can see what all the fuss is about.
