Room To Grow

While Room to Grow is a program based in New York and Boston I wanted to highlight it because it’s a great idea, it works, and it could serve as inspiration in your communities.

Founded in 1998, Room to Grow aims to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty and help their parents navigate successfully through the critical first years of their baby’s life. Parents are referred to Room to Grow by organizations that work with low income families and upon agreement with Room to Grow, parents are enrolled and begin to learn how to care for their babies and more importantly, how to cope with the stresses of being a new parent. Parents are provided with any necessities their child may need during the transition including clothing, blankets, books, high chairs, diaper bags, children’s CDs,  strollers, etc. And every three months their baby is tested by in-house clinicians to insure that the baby is developing cognitively, socially and physically. If you are interested in donating baby supplies or funds, or would like to learn more about the program, please contact Room to Grow. Thank you!
