Rush Foundation’s Art for Life

Oprah We Love You, 2011
Faith Ringgold

I love a great cause that directly benefits children and while I’ve been aware of the Rush Foundation for years, I’ve never had a platform to support their efforts, and now that I do, I thought I would tell you about Art for Life’s mission. Every year the foundation holds a gala and auction to benefit disadvantaged youth and the proceeds from the event provide under-served youth with exposure and access to the arts and arts education. To date, the foundation has impacted over 700,000 youth and has also given under-represented artists the opportunity to exhibit at the gala and select art galleries.

This year’s Art for Life auction catalog on CharityBuzz is filled with incredible, one-of-a-kind opportunities including:

Meet Anna Wintour at Vogue
Lunch with Gayle King, O Magazine editor-at-large
One week internship at Newsweek magazine
Two nights at the Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg
Attend the finale taping of Project Runway
Workout with Gwyneth Paltrow
Lunch with Tory Burch
Meet R & B legend Smokey Robinson
Attend a concert with Justin Timberlake

The Benefit Phone, 2010
Donald Baechler

In addition, there are several great pieces of art to bid on from established and newer artists. Since all proceeds for the auction directly impact the lives of young people, it’s definitely worth a minute of your time to browse the catalog and determine if there is anything you would like to bid on. The auction is open through August 10 on CharityBuzz. Good luck!
