30 Americans

My girlfriends and I are planning to attend the hot, new, provocative 30 Americans exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in a couple of weeks. The exhibit features artistic works by thirty of the most important (and sometimes controversial) African American artists of the past thirty years as well as explores the powerful influence of their legacy across genres and generations.

The Corcoran has always been dedicated to promoting emerging artists as well as established artists from the past and present, so 30 Americans which features art from contemporaries like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kehinde Wiley, Mickalene Thomas, Mark Bradford, Glenn Ligon, Kara Walker, Shinique Smith and Iona Rozeal Brown is well worth the $10 price of admission.
