Aerin’s Aspen Hideaway
For most women, Estee Lauder brands are as iconic a symbol of Americana as baseball and apple pie. As a little girl, I remember spraying my mother’s Youth Dew all over when she wasn’t looking, as if she wouldn’t smell it on me. And I remember my mother taking me to the Clinique counter to purchase my first real blush and lip gloss, both in a deep mauve pink. But for Aerin Lauder the beauty business was a way of life until she recently decided to step away from the family business to start her own lifestyle brand, AERIN.
AERIN is set to launch in Fall 2012 and will include beauty, accessories, and housewares. I will be watching closely to see what Aerin brings to the lifestyle arena because I’ve always respected her choices as a businesswoman and she’s always seemed to have a great eye for what’s next.
If Aerin’s Aspen hideaway is any indication of the freshness yet to be unveiled, I love her style already. Most winter homes are heavy and dark with plaid fabrics, area rugs, faux fur throws, you name it, so it was so refreshing to see Aerin’s minimalist take in this month’s Vogue.
With the help of her friend, interior designer Daniel Romualdez, Aerin filled the all-white and oak-lined rooms with vintage Jean-Michel Frank and modern Hans Wegner and George Nakashima. Add the idyllic and breathtaking views of snow-capped Aspen mountain and you’ve got the perfect modern take on a winter hideaway.
