Inspired by great artists before her like Bearden, Matisse, Monet and Warhol, MICKALENE THOMAS is best known for her refined collages, portraits and paintings enhanced with rhinestones. Recently, Mickalene was the artist-in-residence at the prestigious Versailles Foundation Artists Program in France. Her solo exhibition Origins of the Universe opens September 28th at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
