Claire Desjardins

In The City
acrylics on canvas, 2010

“I can’t help but feel that the colors I’m drawn to are very much grounded in the present. They may be influenced by earlier days, but their vibrancy speaks of the here and now.”

If there’s a rock star in the art + design blogosphere right now, it’s Canadian abstract expressionist CLAIRE DESJARDINS. Claire’s artwork is being pinned and re-pinned at a record clip and if you’ve visited an Anthropologie in the past few months you may have seen Claire’s art on the walls or the sheets and duvets with Claire’s colorful abstracts draped on the beds.

Claire’s work is often described as bold, vibrant, and reflects her extensive travels throughout the Caribbean, Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa. Full of depth, color, and texture, Claire’s art allows us to create our own visual conversation with the stories and experiences of her artistic journey and so far it’s been very impressive.
