Does it ever make you feel like you’re just not one of the cool kids when a fashion editor describes a fashion show as “very Klimt” or “Klimt-astic” and you’re left wondering…who the heck is that? Such is the case this fashion season with references to the controversial Austrian artist known for his sensual and erotic portraits of women GUSTAV KLIMT.

L’Wren Scott Fall 2013

Usually when designers and editors reference Gustav Klimt they are referring to his artistic period known as the Golden Phase. Fashion designer L’WREN SCOTT who presented an absolutely gorgeous collection during London Fashion Week said she was inspired by Klimt’s gilded depictions of Viennese socialite Adele Bloch-Bauer, so she embellished her Fall 2013 show with gold metallics and brocades.

So, now you know, and if someone mentions Gustav Klimt confidently say, “he’s highly collectible, he’s name-dropped by the fashion flock and his paintings currently fetch the most of any artist at auction.”
