Lorna Simpson

Net-a-Porter’s The Edit has a fantastic interview with New York artist LORNA SIMPSON that you simply must-read. Lorna was the first African American woman to show at the Venice Biennale and her work has spanned multiple artistic genres over her thirty year career. Her current collages of women’s faces clipped from old Ebony and Jet magazines were shown during this year’s Frieze in London.

I’ve said over and over that one of the most interesting aspects of arts education is learning the back story on artists, so of course I was over-the-moon to read about Lorna’s upcoming projects as well as her personal style.
