Dark Twisted Fantasy

Everyday we’re inundated with product shots in magazines, on blogs and on Instagram, but decades ago there was one photographer who rejected product shots because he believed photographic narrative created fantasy and fantasy sells.

GUY BOURDIN was renowned in the 1960s – 1980s, but his surrealist tendencies still inspire fashion today. Tom Ford’s a fan. So are prolific photographers Steven Meisel and Nick Knight.

One of Guy’s most sensual and provocative collaborations was with shoe company Charles Jourdan. As you see here, Charles Jourdan allowed Guy to indulge every aspect of his dark twisted fantasies.
