Art galleries and museums are beginning to fill gaping cultural holes in their collections with African American artists who have been ignored for decades and one of the artists receiving recognition and commanding six-figure commissions is my current art obsession JULIE MEHRETU. What I love about Julie’s work is the explosiveness of action on canvas and how she fearlessly uses modern techniques to create an end result that is not only bold but thought-provoking.
