Adventure Awaits

Amangiri, Lake Powell, Utah

This post is (mostly) for my BFFs, every year, for over a decade now, we’ve taken a trip together and I’ve always enjoyed planning them down to the tiniest of details. From a cliffside villa in Jamaica to a safari in Africa to a week in Paris, we’ve covered quite a bit of global territory over the years. For this year’s trip, I’ve gathered a list of destinations with a bit more grit and uniqueness for their consideration. I’ll keep ZR readers posted on just where we land and all the adventures that await us.

There are so many See America opportunities that have escaped us because they’re not as glamorous as a chic European city, but now, thanks to Aman hotels (above), I can say let’s go to the desert in Utah, see the Grand Canyon, and have a spa day and maybe, just maybe, they won’t roll their eyes.

Be Tulum, Mexico

One decidedly less glamorous, yet Vogue-chic option that has been on our radar for some time now is a visit to Tulum, Mexico — a hippie haunt from the 1970s. Tulum offers us a way to relax on a beach, do yoga, and disconnect from the world for a few days of mental and physical solitude. A total win-win for this crew.

Cap Rocat, Mallorca, Spain

For a beach experience with a bit more glamour there’s always Mallorca, off the coast of Spain, and chic neighbor to poshy-posh celebrity hangout Ibiza. We could also combine this trip with a stopover in Barcelona for the foodie scene and shopping.

Cavo Tagoo, Santorini, Greece

With Greece we’d get a bit more history, culture, and incredible Mediterranean cuisine along with stunning beaches and ocean views. This will be a favorite and receive lots of votes, it sells itself.

El Cosmico, Marfa, Texas

I’m not sure they’ll be thrilled with the idea of a night spent in an Airstream trailer or teepee, but a short weekend stay in Marfa with a fun photo shoot by Flytographers might be the winning combo.

J K Place, Rome, Italy

Rome is always a good idea. There’s art, architecture, culture, fashion, food and tons of history. I’m certain they will enjoy this ancient city as much as I have on past visits.

Park Hyatt, Dubai, UAB

The destination that might be a challenge —Dubai, we’re all curious, but it would be one incredibly long plane ride just to land in a desert of skyscrapers even though the cultural experience would be second to none.

Ventana, Big Sur, California

Another See America experience that combines the best of all worlds — a chic resort with Japanese hot baths, hiking, a spa, incredible sea and mountain views, and the opportunity to try glamping in a red wood forest. Ventana might very well be our next adventure.
