Zero + Maria Cornejo

After a long, hot and sweaty summer below the Mason-Dixon line, I’m always excited at the prospect of wearing boots and layering scarves and jackets again.

Speaking of layering, one of my ridiculously beautiful girlfriends is a master at layering and she wears lots of brown too.

Personally, I’ve never worn head-to-toe brown anything because I never felt comfortable wearing brown. I like black, always have, always will.

Growing up, my father use to chide me about wearing too much black because he said folks would think that I lived in an unhappy home. Of course that was far from the truth, but I understood his point and, at my mother’s insistence, I added pops of color here and there, so that Dad knew I was a happy kid.


Knowing this, you may be surprised to learn that my new obsessions are shades of autumnal spices! The Fall/Winter 2011 collections were a veritable blend of color in spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, cumin and cayenne.

When I saw the collections from Zero + Maria Cornejo, Max Azria and Reed Krakoff, I knew my autumn days and nights would be filled with a very rich color palette. It’s time to spice up the closet!
