Giannini’s Gucci

I’m a huge fan of GUCCI Creative Director FRIDA GIANNINI and I can’t believe I’ve never posted anything about Gucci or Frida on Zavvi Rodaine. What I appreciate is that despite Frida’s incredible success she openly admits that she’s not had her “Frida moment” at Gucci yet. If that’s the case then we have a great deal of fabulousness to look forward too.

After graduating from Rome’s Fashion Academy, Frida joined Fendi designing ready-to-wear and was a part of the team that created the baquette handbag. Frida then joined Gucci as a handbag designer eventually moving into ready-to-wear after Tom Ford’s departure. She’s now responsible for the entire Gucci brand.

Frida is widely credited with revitalizing Gucci and solidifying its position as the most coveted luxury brand in the world. And as the proud owner of over 7,000 vinyl albums, Frida’s love of music continues to inspire her collections. Her collaboration with Gucci muse and singer Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine inspired Gucci’s Fall 2011 collection shown here. Get to know the talented Frida in her own words…

“I’m a person who can’t live without music. Music is in the Gucci brand DNA”

“I always feel the earthquake beneath my feet. I always feel myself on the fire because I think this is something that gives you the right adrenaline to work and go forward.”

I want to understand an intelligent glamour, everyday luxury–things a woman can wear with sensuality, not just to show off her tits”

“I don’t think being innovative means making only strange or wierd things that you would never see on the street.”

“When I approach a collection, I never think much about myself, because doing fashion and being a designer, you need to dream.”
