Asian Zen

Born in the Phillipines, fashion designer JOSIE NATORI brings an East meets West sensibility to everything she touches from designing lingerie to decorating her luxe New York City apartment. I’m fascinated with the East meets West philosophy when it comes to everything from healthcare to lifestyle to food to design, so of course I fell in love with Josie’s apartment when it was first featured in Elle Decor almost 5 years ago. When I pulled it out of my tear sheets the other day and it was still as fabulous as I remembered, I had to share it with y’all.

JOSIE is an accomplished pianist, so her music room features two gorgeous Steinway pianos.

Also in the music room, an antique Buddha hidden in an alcove.

An East meets West mix of horse bells + Elliott Puckett painting + Japanese console.
A glass cocktail table + Asian artifacts + a James Nares painting for a sophisticated living room.

The living room seating area with its minimal fireplace.

JOSIE used a collection of Tang dynasty figurines as her dining room centerpiece and framed a beautiful Chinese fabric as artwork.
A Chinese lacquer armoire in JOSIE’S bedroom features a Tang dynasty figurine.

Love the simple elegance of JOSIE’S Chinese embroidered bedspread.

The family room has a Andre Hayat wall fixture with a curvy bronzed desk.
