Natalie Becker’s Cape Town

To accompany my CAPE TOWN city guide, I asked my friend NATALIE BECKER to share her perfect, lazy weekend in Cape Town and this is what she said:

My perfect lazy weekend in Cape Town would include a Saturday visit to the Old Biscuit Mill in the suburb of Woodstock which boasts an organic market and a host of freshly made foods and beverages because it has a great laid back Cape Town feel to it. Often there’s live music and a really interesting and eclectic crowd of people.

Mid-afternoon would yield some mild activity on the promenade or beach.

Saturday evening’s in Cape Town offer such a variety of experiences and a good way to spend them is to start with drinks at one of the trendy bars on Long Street or Camps Bay followed by an evening meal at one of the city’s great restaurants. Current favorites include an Asian fusion restaurant called Kitima in Hout Bay and a number of great seafood restaurants along Beach Road that I love.

From there maybe one of the live music venues in Cape Town or one of the clubs along the strip in Camps Bay, Long Street, or Green Point.

Sunday’s are great for a spot of sailing if the weather’s good or for long drives out to the countryside for horseback riding or hiking followed by a long, lazy lunch at one of the celebrated restaurants along the wine route.

Buena Vista Social Club is the perfect way to wind down your weekend with some Latin American music, dancing and perfect Mojitos.
