In London: Chiswick House
Years ago, after touring Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, I was so impressed with the president’s progressive style of architecture and interior design that I started researching the architects that influenced him which led me to Andrea Palladio.
As it happens, Palladio’s work influenced the architecture at CHISWICK HOUSE in London as well. The villa was built by the Earl of Burlington in 1729 and is filled with the Earl’s collection of art and furniture and the villa’s gardens even inspired the design of New York’s Central Park.
