KERRY JAMES MARSHALL is a prolific African American artist whose most identifiable work for the past 20 years has been about black history, so his recent works based on Rorscharch inkblots has longtime collectors of Marshall’s art scratching their heads in amazement. Marshall says he’s doing untitled inkblots to confuse the idea of abstraction and introduce a dramatic way of looking and seeing.
