Less is More

Over the holidays, I had a rude awakening. I realized how just scrolling Instagram caused me to buy more. In fact, I found myself bookmarking link after link as if on autopilot, so that I could purchase stuff I didn’t necessarily need. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always had a passion for beautiful things, I am a Taurus after all, but how much is too much? Do I really need five red lipsticks? Do I need another coat? Another coffee table book? The new iPhone? When is it time to pull back? Could I pull back?

So, I (finally) watched The Minimalism documentary that explores our increasing need for “stuff” and argues we should live with more intention focusing on the people in our lives rather than things. It struck a nerve. The documentary coupled with the Kon Mari method which I tried (and yes, y’all, its hard, but it works) have made me more present and aware of what I need versus what I want simply because I saw someone else with it. So far, in 2018, my credit cards have barely been used, I like seeing the extra cash in my bank account and I’m much happier too. Watch on Amazon or Netflix.

I often wrestle with that. I am notorious for buying multiples and things I don’t need. Gotta see this documentary. I want my bank account to expand. Thanks for the tip.
