In Rome: Madonna del Sasso
Inside the Pantheon is one of my favorite sculptures, the incredible Madonna of the Rock which sits above Renaissance artist Raphael’s tomb. It was commissioned by Raphael in 1524 and I could stare at it all day. It moved me. It calmed me.
