Southern Girls

There are endless debates about New York girls v. Paris girls and the Beach Boys sang about everybody wanting to be California girls, but here’s an undisputed fact: Southern girls never want to be anything other than Southern girls. We may live in New York, Paris or L.A., but we never lose the essence of what it means to be southern, it’s in our DNA. You can take the girl out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the girl and here’s why Southern girls are the ultimate girls…

Southern girls are raised to act like a lady at all times, so never mistake her sweetness for weakness. In the South we say “you catch more bees with honey than vinegar” and Southern girls have mastered the art of exacting revenge while being as sweet as molasses.

Southern girls may talk slower, but never mistake that for a lack of intelligence.

Southern girls know not to end a sentence with a preposition, but we do it anyway.
(i.e. Where are y’all from?)

Southern girls also know it’s improper to drop their “G’s”, but we do that too.
(i.e. How y’all doin’?)

Southern girls have great respect for their elders and wouldn’t dream of talking back to
their parents or anyone older than them.

Southern girls prefer southern boys for their chivalry, manners and love of their mommas.

Southern girls mind their manners: Yes, ma’am. No, ma’am. Please. Thank you.

Southern girls enjoy the simple things in life like long summer days sitting on a porch reading a good book.

Southern girls are the ultimate hostesses whether it’s an intimate dinner party or tailgating for their alma mater’s football team.

Southern girls have at least one of their grandmother’s recipes in her repertoire.
(i.e. buttermilk biscuits, cornbread, fried chicken or sweet tea)

Southern girls appreciate great storytellers reminiscent of their beloved grandfathers.

Southern girls love an adventurous weekend road trip, even
better if it’s in a red pick-up truck.

Most importantly, Southern girls believe that women get better with age.

If you’re a Southern girl, what would you add?
