For Christmas Day, we thought we’d share this depiction of the birth of Christ on display at the Museo Prado in Madrid, one of our all-time favorite museums. In this nativity, Federico Barocci captured a maternal Mary using a technique called mystic naturalism to highlight how the heavenly child illuminates his loving mother’s face.
